
Mr. Nichols was born to William Ellis and Elizabeth Peadon Nichols.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother Hershel Eugene Nichols; stepfather James E. Brewer; and one sister Brenda Jackson.
Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years Linda Gail Nichols; one son Terry Nichols (Lisa); daughter Wanda Thomas (John); three sisters Barbara Johnson (James), Caroline Stephens (Jimmy), and Joyce McMunn (Stanley); grandchildren Troy Gray (Emily) and Austin Nichols (Becca); great-grandchild Bailee Gray as well as several nieces and nephews.
After college, Linwood went to work at Amoco Chemicals where he retired after 27 years. An avid softball player for years, he could often be found out on the field in multiple leagues and numerous teams including playing for Amoco Chemicals and Huntsville Senior League. He was a member of Round Island Baptist Church.
Visitation will be held at McConnell Funeral Home on June 11, 2025 from 6-8 pm. A grave service in his honor will be held June 12, 2025 at 12 noon at Roselawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Troy Gray, Austin Nichols, Randy Robinson, Randy Robinson Jr., Danny Dunn and Stanley McMunn.
