William James Marshall, 89, of Huntsville, passed away Friday, March 19, 2021. He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Sarah Shahan Marshall; and daughters, Ann Marie Marshall of Huntsville, and Lynda Marshall Weber of Arlington, Virginia.
Born in Chicago to Joseph A. Marshall and Veronica Enright Marshall, Bill grew up in Chicago and Oak Ridge, Tennessee. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1953, returning to Oak Ridge after service for work. He received a B.S. from the University of Tennessee and a master’s degree from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Massachusetts.
Bill and Sarah lived in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Louisville, Kentucky, Wilmington, Delaware, Chelmsford, Massachusetts, and Seattle, Washington, before arriving in Huntsville in 1986. Bill retired as a computer software engineer from Boeing in 1996.
The funeral was Monday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. There was a private burial.
