William Gary Ray, 57, of Killen, AL, passed away on June 2, 2014. Gary was born in Smyrna, TN on November 9, 1956 into the family of William Carlon Ray and Mary Jeanette McDonald. His career was in the field of electronics, he was a member of the church of Christ, and a U.S. Army veteran.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 4, 2014 from 12 – 2 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home with the funeral following at 2 p.m. in Greenview Memorial Chapel,
Officiating will be Stan Dean.
Preceding Gary in death besides his parents, were his grandparents, Marvin and Emma Ray, Alphonse and Ruby McDonald.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 37 years, Belinda Lois Mason Ray; son, Jeremy Michael Ray and wife Lori; daughter, Brittany Belinda Ray; grandchildren, Leighana Michelle Ray, Emma Faith Hammond, Bryleigh Mae Hammond; brother, Carl Ray and wife Diana; sister, Wanda Strickland and husband, Jim; uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who loved him dearly.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
A special thank you to the doctors and nurses at the VA Hospital, Birmingham, AL, Surgical Intensive Care Unit for all the great care you gave to Gary for the last two years. To Beth, Shauna and the hospice nurses at AlaCare; you were the greatest and your help was really appreciated by all the family. Gary loved his family, especially his wife Belinda who could not have given better care. Belinda had so much support from her employers and co-workers and could not have made it without all of you. Thank you so much.
