williamWilliam David Meeks, 66, of Tuscumbia, died Friday, August 22, 2014 at his residence. He was a U.S. Army veteran, and a Tool and Die Designer for 42 years for Central Extrusion Die. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion. His loves were aviation history, his collection of vintage model airplanes, and his freedom out on his motorcycles.

Visitation will be held Monday, August 25, 2014 from 6 – 8 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at 10 a.m. in Greenview Memorial Chapel with Ben Hightower officiating. Burial will follow in Greenview Memorial Park.

Mr. Meeks was preceded in death by his parents, Dalton and Jewell Meeks.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Gammon Meeks; son, Jonathan Meeks (Felicia); stepsons, Michael Unger (Meghan), Jeffrey Unger; brother, Van Meeks; half-brother, Greg Meeks (Kim); sister, Barbara Meeks Roberson (Larry); grandchildren, Bryant and Libby Unger.

Pallbearers will be Steve Connolly, Andy O’Daniel, Michael Unger, Jeffrey Unger, Mark Hightower, David Hightower, and Jonathan Meeks.

Memorials may be made to the American Legion Post #11, Florence, or to the charity of your choice.
