William D. Bridwell – Obituary

William D. Bridwell, 74 of Athens, AL passed to his heavenly home on Saturday, August 3, 2013, surrounded by family singing Hymns of Praise. Mr. Bridwell was born August 3, 1939 in Morgan County to William Aaron Bridwell and Mamie Alice Walker Bridwell.

Services for Mr. Bridwell are Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at Lindsay Lane Baptist Church at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 6, 2013 from 11:00 until 1:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in Faith Memorial Park in Madison with Dusty McLemore and Greg Brown officiating. Limestone Chapel Funeral home is handling the arrangements.

He was a member of Lindsay Lane Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Bridwell of Athens; sons, Michael Phillips and wife Teresa and Steven Phillips both of Decatur; brother, Melvin Bridwell of Huntsville; sisters, Betty Roberson of Longwood, FL and Brenda Brown and husband Greg of Huntsville; grandchildren, Alison Miller and husband Grant and Sarah Phillips both of Decatur; 3 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by a son, William “Billy” DeWayne Bridwell Jr.; parents, William Aaron Bridwell and Mamie Alice Walker Bridwell; sister, Shirley Hartsfield.

Pallbearers are Steve Hood, Jack Burns, Tim Sanders, Don Lauderdale, Cecil Brown, John Kilcrease and Jeff Holly. Honorary Pallbearers are Friends of Jesus Sunday School Class.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and Alzheimer’s Association in Huntsville.
