William Charles Winborn – Obituary

williamMr. William Charles Winborn, 81, of Florence, passed away July 7, 2014 at Mitchell Hollingsworth. He was a lifelong member of Pisgah United Methodist Church, and a truck driver for Nabisco over forty years.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 9, 2014 from 6 – 8 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Thursday, July 10, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Pisgah United Methodist Church with the Rev. Donnie McDaniel and John Archer officiating. Burial will follow in Pisgah Cemetery with military honors. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.

Mr. Winborn was preceded in death by his daughter, Charlotte Winborn; parents, Hulet and Emma Nola Winborn.

He is survived by his wife, Sovola Winborn; daughters, Sherry Box (Greg), Carol Creel; sister, Shirley Boyd; grandchildren, Erica Darby(Steven), Jessica Harrison(Tyler), Jared Box, Skylar Creel, Chelsea McDonald(Wess), great-grandchildren, Harrison and Avery Darby, Lila Harrison; special nieces, Linda Schafer and Gina O’Kelley.

Active pallbearers will be Jared Box, Steven Darby, Tyler Harrison, Wess McDonald, Tony Perkins, Kenny Perkins, Mike Darling, and Don Darling.

Honorary pallbearers will be Kelley Allen, Larry Hipps, Dee Spencer, John Archer, Skylar Creel, Charlie Schafer, Jim Ryerson, Edmund Quillen, and A.B. Willis.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Mitchell Hollingsworth Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, and to Linda Schafer and Gina O’Kelley.

His family was special to him, children, grandchildren , great- grandchildren, and his wife Sovola of 62 years.

Charles loved to golf and made many special friends.
