William Charles Akers, age 77, of Cordova, passed away September 20, 2020. He is preceded in death by his parents, John Williams Akers and Emma Motte and sisters, Kathy Bates and Sandy Akers. He survived by his wife, of 42 years, Patsy Akers; sons, Johnathan Akers (Rachel) and Jeffrey Akers (Erin); grandchildren, Alana Briggs and Kayley Briggs; brothers, Wayne Akers, Stanley Akers and Mike Akers; sisters, Charlotte Simmons and Pat Motte; several nieces and nephews as well as a host of friends. Charles was a lifelong resident of Walker County. He worked in the coal mines from the time he was a teenager until he retired. Charles loved his job. He was a devoted family man. Charles loved Auburn Football, fishing, making people laugh, but most of all, he loved the Lord. A graveside service will be held at New Horizon Memorial Gardens on Friday, September 25, 2020 at 2:00 pm.
