William Brooks Johnson – Obituary

williamWilliam Brooks Johnson, age 82, of Toney, passed away at his home of natural causes on Sunday, August 21st, 2016. Billy was the son of Mrs. Mary Brooks Johnson of Toney.  During his childhood, Billy was active in FFA and won numerous awards for his work raising and showing calves.  As a young man, Billy served his country in the Korean War and attended Auburn University, where he graduated from the College of Agriculture.  Upon his return to Huntsville, Billy dedicated over 50 years of service as a tester and supervisor with the Dairy Herd Improvement Association and assisted his brother, Buddy Johnson, with the family farm.  Billy was also a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Meridianville.

He is survived by his nieces, Mary Lynn Middleton Corbin of Decatur, Eddie Lynn (David) Dowell Finch of Charlotte, NC, and Robin Elaine (Pete) Hamilton Eunice of Pueblo, CO; nephews, John Thomas Johnson of Nashville, TN, and Robert Marshall (Bernita) Hamilton of Greenville; dear life-long friend Betty Hampton Esslinger of New Market; 13 grand nieces and nephews, and 11 great-grand nieces and nephews. Grand nephews will serve as pallbearers.

A graveside service will be held at Maple Hill Cemetery, Saturday, August 27, 2016 at 2pm.Memorial contributions may be made to Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Meridianville or the Auburn University College of Agriculture.
