Some words from Ms. Paula Hyden-Goldberg:

The poet laureate of swearing, Bill was a friend to all but especially children and small animals. He knew the location of every firehouse in the state of Texas (or so I believe!) and was a huge sports fan – he loved the San Antonio Spurs, the Dallas Cowboys, the Washington Nationals, the Washington Capitals, and every single Texas Longhorns team. When he decided to marry my sister, Yolanda Miller, he embraced her whole crazy family (which only goes to show that he was a little crazy too). Bill wasn’t perfect – he had a temper and see Poet Laureate above – but he could be counted on in times of need and he loved his wife and his children – Doug, Paul, and Mary – and his grandchildren – Mia and Babylon – with all his heart. Last, but not least, he loved his country and served it well both in wartime Vietnam and in peace. You will be missed Dr. Col Bill. May you rest in peace.

Oh yeah, and he loved beer, so raise a glass in his memory the next chance you get.
