Obituary of William "Bill" Carroll DaughertyWilliam “Bill” Carroll Daugherty, 83, of Huntsville, Alabama passed away at Huntsville Hospital surrounded by family on October 3, 2026. Bill was born August 26, 1943 in Florence, Alabama to Neva Carolyn (Thompson) and Willie Lee Daugherty.

When Bill was just a teenager a cute girl named Judy Spears caught his eye. They dated all through high school and married on June 4, 1965. They spent the next 56 years building a family and life together until her passing in 2021.

Bill earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Florence State College, later known as the University of North Alabama and spent most of his career working in the Space Shuttle program. A highlight of his career was being part of foundational roles through United Space Boosters Inc (USBI) working on the iconic Solid Rocket Boosters.

Bill was an avid baseball, softball and football fan. Go Braves! Roll Tide! He also greatly enjoyed gardening and truly had a green thumb.

Bill was a member of University Baptist Church for 48 years and although his health prevented him from attending in person for the past few years, he continued as a member of Church on the Hill until his passing.

Bill is survived by daughter Lynn Wilson (Dell), sons Keith Daugherty (Annette), and Jon Daugherty; 7 grandchildren, Jordan Wilson (Cayla), Christopher Daugherty, Abigail Wilson-Sears (Alex), Alyssa Daugherty-Lora (Manny), Dylan Daugherty (Madison), Savanna Mantooth (Chris) and Devin Daugherty (Kamryn); 9 great-grandchildren, Braiden, Mason, Nolan, Grayson, Izzy, Lily, Emersyn, Kirsten and Colton; 2 brothers, Neil Daugherty (Rosemary) and Donnie Daugherty (Janet); Aunt Edith Broadfoot and several beloved nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at Church on the Hill, 809 Jordan Ln, Huntsville, AL 35816
