Wiley Dale Landers, 89, of New Hope, Alabama, passed away Saturday, December 2, 2023 at his home.

Dale was born on Merrill Mountain October 17, 1934. He attended school at Hebron, Claysville and Guntersville High. Dale met Alice Woody, the love of his life at Dot’s Dairy Dip. He worked in the flooring business for many years. Later, he ran a fiberglass plant in Grant, AL. Years later, he started working for the County, until he retired. Dale served three years in the Army. Dale and Alice celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary earlier this year. Dale was known as a great sportsman. He loved playing golf, baseball and bowling. He won many trophies through the years. Dale was known as a great storyteller and jokester. Dale loved the beach and enjoyed his family. He will be greatly missed. The family would like to express their love and gratitude to Dr. Chris Clayton for the special love and care he has given to Dale.

He was preceded in death by father, Wiley Lee Landers; mother, Jimmie Mae Manley Landers; siblings, Lee Landers, Martha Corrine Bitzan, Novella Taylor, Agnes Whitaker, and Margret Thorn.

Surviving are wife, Alice Woody Landers; son, Stephen Dale Landers; daughter, Lisa (Brian) Duncan; granddaughter, Molly (Jake) Bird. He also had numerous grandkids and great-grand kids.

Visitation will be Monday 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at New Hope Funeral Home. Services will follow at 1:00 PM with Rev. Doug Browner officiating.

Pallbearers will be Jake Bird, Mark McKenzie, Will McKenzie, Harry McKenzie, Zack McKenzie, Sam Baker, Brian Duncan, Marty Baswell, Scott Adams, and Kevin Landers. Honorary pallbearers will be Rudy Whitaker, Randy Whitaker and Bobby Ray Taylor.

Interment will be in Walker Cemetery.
