COLBERT COUNTY-Fall is officially in full swing across the county, and October is shaping up to be a
fantastic month packed with local events.
Colbert County Tourism has a list of events for October 2026 in this month’s Happenings guide:
Now- October 31, 2026 – Corporeal Essence Exhibit, Tennessee Valley Museum of Art,
511 N. Water St., Tuscumbia. Corporeal Essence, a figurative art exhibition featuring the
work of Cynthia Wagner, is open now through October 31st, 2026. For additional

October 1-31, 2026 – Annual Quilt Show, Belle Mont Mansion, 1569 Cook Ln.,
Tuscumbia. The Belle Mont Quilt Show will run throughout the entire month of October
2026 at Belle Mont Mansion. The exhibit showcases historic, antique, and artisan quilts,
with viewing included in standard museum admission. Additionally, special programs by
Mr. Glenn Rikard will take place every Friday at 1:00 PM for $6.00 per person. For

October 1- 4, 2026 – October Mule Ride, Seven Springs Lodge, 1292 Mount Mills Rd,
Tuscumbia. Seven Springs Lodge will host the annual “October Fall Mule Ride” from
Thursday, October 1, 2026, through Sunday, October 4, 2026. The multi-day event begins at
9:00 AM on Thursday, welcoming riders to explore the woodland trails and scenic

October 2, 3, 9, 10, 16, 17, 23, 24, 30, 31, 2026 – LaGrange Haunted Hayrides,
LaGrange College Site, 1491 LaGrange College Road, Leighton. A local tradition returns this
fall as the LaGrange Haunted Hayrides take place every Friday and Saturday night in
October starting at 7:00 PM at the historic LaGrange College Site. Combining nighttime
Halloween thrills with the rich, nearly two-century-old history and paranormal folklore of
LaGrange Mountain—home to Alabama’s first state-chartered college built in 1830—the
event features a spooky ride through the historic grounds complete with plenty of
surprises along the way. Admission is $10 per person, with children ages 5 and under
admitted free, and all proceeds benefit the White Oak Volunteer Fire Department and the

October 2, 2026 – Jeff Allen: My First Final Farewell Tour, The Ritz Theatre, 111 W. 3rd

October 3, 2026 – Geo Hike, Cane Creek Canyon, 251 Loop Rd, Tuscumbia. Cane Creek
Canyon Nature Preserve will host a “Geo Hike” on Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 10:00
AM to 12:30 PM. Led by local geoscientist Dr. Melissa Moore, this intermediate,
approximately two-hour women’s trek takes hikers into the canyon to explore ancient rock
formations, minerals, and the natural beauty of the preserve. Participants are encouraged

October 3, 2026 – Cane Creek Nature Preserve Hike, Cane Creek Canyon, 251 Loop Rd,
Tuscumbia. Cane Creek Canyon Nature Preserve will host a guided hike to Hooper Falls on
Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. This 5-mile round-trip trek moves at a
leisurely pace with moderate difficulty, featuring rolling hill climbs as hikers return toward
the parking area. Participants can enjoy wildflowers, wildlife, and scenic views at one of the
preserve’s less-frequented falls. Hikers are encouraged to bring a camera, full water bottle,

October 5, 2026 – Tennessee RiverLine Paddle Training, 180 Alloys Park Ln, Muscle
Shoals. On Monday, October 5, 2026, the Tennessee RiverLine is hosting a free American
Canoe Association Level 1 Introduction to Kayaking Skills Course from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
at the Colbert Alloys Park Boat Ramp. Designed for entry-level paddlers, this full-day event
features both land-based and on-water instruction focused on safety, fundamental skill
development, and overall enjoyment on the water. Participants are encouraged to bring

October 6, 2026 – School Spirits: Ghost Stories from Alabama’s College Campuses,
Muscle Shoals Public Library, 1918 Avalon Ave., Muscle Shoals. Muscle Shoals Public
Library will host “School Spirits: Ghost Stories from Alabama’s College Campuses” on
Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at 5:30 PM. Presented by Alabama Humanities Alliance Road
Scholar Dr. Alan Brown, the special event features haunting tales and folklore from higher

October 8, 2026 – Tribute to Muscle Shoals Music, The Ritz Theatre, 111 W. 3rd St.,
Sheffield. Colbert County Tourism and The Ritz Theatre will host “Tribute to Muscle Shoals
Music” on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at 7:00 PM. The special evening celebrates the iconic
music, stories, and heritage of Muscle Shoals, featuring performances by T. Graham Brown,
Angela Hacker, James LeBlanc, Billy Lawson, and Wishbone. Proceeds from the concert

October 10, 2026 – 6th Annual Lauktoberfest, Downtown Cherokee. The 6th Annual
Laucktober fest Car Show & Swap Meet will take place on Saturday, October 10, 2026, from
8:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Main Street in Cherokee, AL. The event features a car show ($20
entry fee, registration 8:00–10:00 AM, awards at 1:00 PM), a swap meet, live music by Cane
Creek Country from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, food vendors, raffles, vendor booths, a silent
auction, and a Kid Zone. All proceeds benefit Every Piece Matters in support of autism

October 10, 2026 – Patchwork, The Ritz Theatre, 111 W. 3rd St., Sheffield. Time Out for
Theatre will present Patchwork on Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at
The Ritz Theatre in Sheffield, AL. The play follows four best friends putting on a show filled
with short skits about coming-of-age life lessons while sewing together a patchwork quilt.

October 13, 2026 –An Evening with Jennifer Mooreman, The Logan Room, 307 N
Montgomery Ave, Sheffield. Sheffield Public Library will host “An Evening with Jennifer

followed by an author talk with the novelist at 6:30 PM. Sponsored by the Friends of

October 15, 2026 – Holiday Appetizer Cooking Class and Tasting, Provisional Events,
LLC, 107 E 6th St, Tuscumbia. Provisional Events, LLC will host a “Holiday Appetizer
Cooking Class and Tasting” on Thursday, October 15, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The
hands-on class features ten festive holiday appetizer recipes along with tastings of every

October 16, 2026 – Live at The Ritz: Mary Bragg, The Ritz Theatre, 111 W 3rd St,
Sheffield. The Ritz Theatre will host a special live concert featuring Mary Bragg alongside
special guests John Paul White and Ben Tanner on Friday, October 16, 2026, at 7:00 PM.
The performance marks a live collaboration of the creative team behind Bragg’s album
Secrets to Strangers, which was recorded at FAME Studios and produced by White and
Tanner. Florence-based Americana trio Lockhart, Jones & Elliott (featuring McKenzie
Lockhart, Morgan Jones, and Caleb Elliott) will open the evening with their three-part vocal

October 17, 2026 – Village Workday, Village School, 200 Chickamauga St., Sheffield. The
Village School Foundation, in partnership with the Muscle Shoals National Heritage Area,
will host a community volunteer workday on Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 10:00 AM to
1:00 PM. This event welcomes volunteers of all experience levels to assist with cleaning,
painting, scraping, yard work, organizing materials, and more. All necessary supplies and
direction will be provided. Participants are encouraged to wear clothes they don’t mind
getting dirty, including jeans and closed-toe shoes, and may bring work gloves if available.

October 17, 2026 – Community Fall Festival, 910 East 18th St., Sheffield. The Community
Fall Festival will take place on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at 910 East 18th Street in
Sheffield, AL. This family-friendly autumn block party offers a celebration for all ages
featuring local vendors and community festivities. Vendor setup is free, with requested

October 20, 2026 – Dolores Hydock presents: Every Picture Tells a Story: The
Storytelling of Norman Rockwell, Sheffield Public Library, 316 N. Montgomery Ave.,
Sheffield. On Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at 2:00 PM, the Sheffield Public Library will host
storyteller Dolores Hydock for a presentation titled “Every Picture Tells a Story: The
Storytelling of Norman Rockwell.” Supported by a grant award from the Alabama
Humanities Alliance, this program explores the narrative art of Norman Rockwell and is

October 22-24, 2026 – Seven Springs Lodge Halloween Party, Seven Springs Lodge,
1292 Mount Mills Rd, Tuscumbia. Seven Springs Lodge will host its annual Halloween
Party weekend before Halloween. The family-friendly weekend features a Thursday night
Chili Cookoff, Friday night kids’ trick-or-treating, best costume contest, and movie, and a
Saturday night adult costume party. Prizes will also be awarded throughout the weekend

October 24, 2026 – Tuscumbia Founders Day, Tuscumbia’s Stage Coach Stop, 301 S.
Dickson St., Tuscumbia. Tuscumbia Founders Day will take place on Saturday, October 24,
2026, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Sponsored by the Colbert County Historical Landmarks
Foundation, the community event celebrates local heritage and history at the historic log
