COLBERT COUNTY-Colbert County kicks off the warm spring weather with car shows, nature events, bees.eclipsees and more.  Check out the April events for Colbert County :

Saturdays During April (April 6, 13, 20, and 27, 2024), April Walking Tours. Sheffield and Tuscumbia are hosting free walking tours every Saturday in April starting at 10 am, continuing a beloved tradition of exploring their rich history and architecture with knowledgeable guides. Tuscumbia’s tours vary weekly, featuring the First Presbyterian Church, the Winston Home, Locust Hill, and others, departing from the old Coldwater Books. Sheffield’s tours, led by Jimmy Austin, will explore the North Montgomery residential area and downtown business district, starting from Sheffield City Hall. Each tour lasts about 1 to 1-1/2 hours. The Tuscumbia tours are sponsored by the Colbert County Historical Landmarks Foundation, and Sheffield’s by the Sheffield Historic Commission. April 1, 2024 – Solar Eclipse Party, Sheffield Public Library, 316 N Montgomery Ave, Sheffield. Enjoy music by Ed Bisquera and Dr. Eric Kirkman along with small bites. Eclipse glasses will be given to all attendees to watch the April 8th eclipse. Event will take place 5-6:30 pm and is free to the public. Information: 256-386-5633

April 2, 2024 – Solar Eclipse Informational, Sheffield Public Library, 316 N Montgomery Ave, Sheffield. Come learn about solar eclipses and how to safely observe them with David Curott, retired Professor of Physics and Astronomy. Eclipse glasses will be given to all attendees to watch the April 8th eclipse. Program will begin at 2 pm in the Conference Room and is free to the public. Information: 256-386-5633

April 5, 2024 – Exhibit opening at Tennessee Valley Museum of Art, 511 N Water St, Tuscumbia. Douglas Baulos, UAB Associate Professor of Drawing and Bookmaking and Art Studio, will exhibit a selection of mixed media artworks. “500 Years of Printmaking” will feature prints from the Cain Collection beginning in 1520. There will also be an exhibit of prints from the TVAA Permanent Collection in connection with Alabama’s Year of Birding through the state tourism office and Colbert County Tourism. April 6, 2024 – Wonderland Tea Party, Ritz Theatre, 111 W 3rd St, Sheffield. Join Alice and the tea party cast from Alice in Wonderland for tea on Saturday, April 6, at noon in the Ritz Studio. Time Out for Theatre (Ritz Children’s Theatre) is excited to bring this production to the Tennessee Valley. Be a part of the madness at our tea time where we will have a variety of drinks and finger foods, as well as opportunities for silly selfies with the Mad Hatter and his friends. April 12-13, 2024 – Alabama Crappie Trail Fishing Tournament, Riverfront Park, 1416 Alabama Avenue, Sheffield. Join us for the Alabama Crappie Trail Fishing Tournament on Pickwick and Wilson Lakes! April 13, 2024 – Kids and the Forest, Belle Mont Mansion, 1569 Cook Ln., Tuscumbia. Join us for Kids and the Forest on April 13th at 1:30. It will be in partnership with the Alabama Forestry Commission and will be presented by Forester Johnnie Everitt. This event is intended for children ages 5-13. Free and open to the public! April 13, 2024 – Keller Kids Color Run, Downtown Tuscumbia. The Helen Keller Festival committee is excited to announce the first ever Keller Kids Color Run. Keller Kids Color Run is a 5K fun run and fundraising event that will begin in downtown Tuscumbia and end in Spring Park. It will take place 9am-12noon. Participants will be showered with color throughout the course and can join in at the dance party at the finish line. Entries are welcome up to the day of the event. This is a family-friendly event. April 20, 2024 – Alice in Wonderland, Ritz Theatre, 111 W 3rd St, Sheffield. (Play based on the classic by Lewis Carroll.) As the curtain rises, Alice slides into view at the end of her long fall down the rabbit-hole. It is a more delightful place for the audience than for Alice, who is trying desperately to get back home. She tries to get help from the Mad Hatter, the Rabbit, and from the very nice Cheshire Cat. Long enough to contain the most delightful incidents but short enough to keep audience attention. Run time is approximately 45 minutes. A Time Out for Theatre production at the Ritz, there will be school field trip productions throughout the week. Public performances are Saturday, April 20 at 2pm and 6pm. Tickets are $10. April 20, 2024 – Motor Madness Car Show and Concert at City Hall, 2010 E Avalon Ave., Muscle Shoals. Showcase your best vehicle for a $20 entry fee! Festivities will start at 8 AM with judging at 12 PM. will be taking the stage from 12 to 3 PM for some amazing entertainment. April 27, 2024 – Swampers 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run, Muscle Shoals Middle School Gym. The 20th Annual Swampers 5K & 1 Mile Run/Walk benefits the Shoals Civic League. Packet pickup is Friday, April 26th from 4:30-6:30 PM at the Muscle Shoals Middle School Gym and Saturday morning. All runners will receive a t-shirt and all 5K finishers and kids 12 and under in the 1 Mile will receive a custom finishers medal. April 27, 2024 – Celebrating Cane Creek Canyon, 251 Loop Rd, Tuscumbia.
