TUSCUMBIA – Musician, Singer, Stage Manager and friend to those needing a hand up, Wayne Chaney finally got his star at the Alabama Music Hall of Fame. This writer has been pleased to know that Chaney and he have been friends for many, many years. What this writer didn’t truly appreciate is the fact that most people around The Shoals have the same feelings about their relationship with this great guy. It became clearly evident to us at Wayne’s celebration at the AMHOF Saturday when we walked into the building and gasped at the enormity of the crowd who, undoubtedly all felt the same sense of friendship. We’ve never seen such a throng at one of these events. It was “Standing Room Only”… So many well-wishers in the hall that one could hardly walk.

Chaney grew up in Lauderdale County. And since high school has been demonstrating his musical prowess all of his life. He’s headlined local and regional bands, took the national stage as Musician, Singer and Stage Manager for the legendary Little Richard for over 25 years. He’s helped probably hundreds of players develop their careers, and never asked for anything in return. He’s one of a kind!

Friends from all corners of the Country attended the ceremony to, in their individual ways, show Wayne just how much he’s appreciated and loved.

The Quad Cities Daily was on hand taking our Event Photos, and we happily share them here. Enjoy!
