Walter Wayne Banks, age 85, of Athens, died Thursday, October 16, 2025 at his residence. Services will be Monday, October 20th at 2:00pm in the Spry Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Dan Hughes and Ron Oakley. Interment will follow at Limestone Memorial Gardens, with military honors. Local veterans to serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be at 12 noon on Monday at Spry Funeral Home. Mr. Banks was born on October 30, 1939 to Euel Cedric Banks and Charlotte Watson Banks in Jefferson County, Alabama. He was retired from the Tennessee Valley Authority at Brownsferry and was a U.S. Navy veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Banks, of Athens, daughters, Michele (Ron) White of Capshaw, Nicole Banks, of Athens, granddaughter, Amanda White of Capshaw, and sister, Deborah Banks of Huntsville. He is preceded in death by his parents, E.C. and Charlotte Banks.
