Walter Randell Phillips, known to most as Randy, passed away on April 11, 2025, at the age of 67. Randy was born December 13, 1957, in Cullman County, to Zester and Dorothy Miller Phillips.
A lifelong resident of the area, graduate of Holly Pond High School, and former Mason, Randy was a well-loved member of the community. Randy was a generous and caring man. His small engine repair business brought him into contact with many, and Mr. Phillips was known to extend kindness to his friends and neighbors beyond fixing their lawnmowers. He often helped an elderly neighbor with a project or mowed a lawn as a friend, not as a businessman. He appreciated the relationships made within a small town and he found joy in being part of a community of caring friends and neighbors. Randy loved his neighbors – and they loved him.
Mr. Phillips was also an avid horseman and his love for animals was known by many. His horse, Titus, was a source of pride and joy in Randy’s life, as was his dog, Sophie. Randy’s love for his animals came second only to his love for his family. Mr. Phillips was a loving and devoted son, husband, father, pawpaw, brother, and friend. Randy leaves behind a legacy of generosity, kindness, and humor that will be remembered by his family and friends for generations to come.
Mr. Phillips is preceded in death by his parents. Those left to cherish Randy’s memory include his wife, Carolyn Phillips; daughters, Staci Bryan, Jami Phillips, Ami Phillips; siblings, Marty, Sandra, and Rita; grandchildren, Dalton Bryan, Alliyah Yeager, Gavin Phillips, Pyper Shaw, Ashton McCluskie; great-grandson, Banks; uncle, Gene Miller; cousin, Tony Minor; a host of nieces and nephews; friends, Dale Bagwell, Burl and Glenda Drake; and many friends and neighbors.
Friends are invited to join the Phillips family as they honor Randy’s memory with a Celebration of Life on Friday evening, April 25, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. Services will be held in the Holly Pond Funeral Home Chapel with Tony Minor officiating.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Alabama Donor Services in memory of Randy.
