Walter Duncan Weddington, age 86 of Winchester, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving wife, on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at the Waters of Winchester. He was born on August 29, 1937, in Winchester, to the late Gilbert Brown and Dorothy (Duncan) Weddington. Duncan retired in 2004, from AEDC where he was a project manager. He attended St. Agnes Episcopal Church in Cowan for many years. Duncan enjoyed trips to the Smokie Mountains, riding in his jeep, camping, and hunting. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughters, Jan Patton and Ann Payne; and two of his beloved four-legged best friends, Sunny and Smokie. Duncan is survived by his loving wife of twenty-nine years, Frances Weddington; grandchildren, Amy (Chris) Meaker, Jared (Schelby) Blair and Lee (Jennifer) Patton; seven great-grandchildren; step-son, Alan (Debbie) Grant; three step grandchild; three step great-grandchildren; one step great-great-grandchild; and his beloved, Sassy. Visitation will be Sunday, April 14, 2024, from 5:30pm – 8:30pm at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Monday, April 15, 2024, at 10:00am from the chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home.
