Florence-A local favorite free event is back! The Forks of Cypress Plantation Site and Cemetery Walking Tour conducted by Harry Wallace will take place Saturday, October 13, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. The site of the once thriving plantation and award winning horse training center is located on Jackson Road and County Road 41 in Lauderdale County. County Road 41 is also known as Dowdy Road. The house was built in 1820 by James Jackson, a planter, industrialist and horse breeder. Only the 24 iconic columns, partially made of horsehair, survive.
