Vivian Ann Horton, 75, passed away on Friday, October 9, 2026. Born on March 24, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Hassie and Carl Jackson Slayton. Ann spent her career working in the medical field, serving others through her work at Red Bay Hospital in Red Bay, Alabama; Medical Arts Clinic in Russellville, Alabama; and with Drs. Steve and Jack Center in Belmont, Mississippi. She was a member of Golden Central Baptist Church.
One of Vivian’s greatest pleasures was spending time working in her yard. While flowers were never particularly her interest, she loved landscaping and was always finding something new to plant, move, or rearrange. Whether creating another planting bed, adding shrubs and trees, or digging up something she had planted because she decided it would look better somewhere else, there was always another project waiting. Her yard was never quite finished, and that was just the way she liked it.
Ann’s home was always open. It was a place where family never knocked and they rarely left empty-handed. If they admired something she had, chances were it was going home with them. A new lamp, a favorite sweater, or just about anything else was theirs for the asking.

Of all the memories we will carry of our mother, one of our greatest blessings was knowing she had accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and seeing her follow Him in baptism. We find immeasurable comfort in knowing that her last breath here on earth was her first breath in Heaven.
Though we will miss her more than words can express, we do not grieve without hope. We will spend our remaining days looking forward to the beautiful promise that one day soon, we will see our mother again.
