Virginia Ree Scott Palmer, 88, passed away Monday, September 7, 2026 at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo, Mississippi. She was born on April 21, 1938, in Franklin County, AL to Archie and Rosie Barnes Scott. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. Virginia loved her church family. She loved her Sunday School class and was in the WMU group. Our mom loved meeting people; she never met a stranger. Virginia worked at Charm Step in Fulton, MS, and later at Blue Bell (Wrangler).

Funeral service will be Thursday, September 10, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, AL with Bro. Randy Hargett and Bro. Billy Nichols officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, 5-8 p.m., at Deaton Funeral Home. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL will be in charge of arrangements.

She is survived by her greatest joy, four children, Deborah West (Van), Donna Hightower (David), Dwayne Palmer (Carrie McKinney) and Dinah Thrasher (Tommy); nine grandchildren, Bryant West, Whitney West, Adam Bullen (Hannah), Carmen Bullen Riggins (Dondriell), Kyle Palmer (Latasha), Leah Palmer Barksdale (Joe), Blake Evetts, Renate’ Evetts and Erika Hightower Ables (Josh); fifteen great-grandchildren, Tyde West, Jackson West, Joseph, Jacob and Rosie Bullen, Sophia, Liam and Layla Riggins, Kayeden Palmer, Nick Palmer, Stetson Barksdale, Brees Evetts, Harper Evetts, Marshall Wellington, Remi Kate Wellington and Christian Ables; one sister, Patricia Scott Lindsey; sister-in-law, Carolyn Palmer; as well as her nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 70 years, Riley George Palmer; a daughter, Juanita Palmer; her parents, Archie and Rosie Barnes Scott; and her twin brother, Archie Lee Scott.

Pallbearers will be Bryant West, Kyle Palmer, Adam Bullen, Blake Evetts, Tyde West, Joseph Bullen and Jackson West.

Honorary pallbearers will be Liam Riggins, Jacob Bullen, Marshall Wellington, Nick Palmer, Stetson Barksdale and Christian Ables.
