Virginia Odell (Sanders) Broadbent, age 90, formerly of Huntsville, Alabama, went to heaven to be with Jesus on January 30,2015, just a few days shy of her 91st birthday.
She died at her residence in Millport, Alabama. She was born on February 7, 1924, in Madison County, Alabama, to William Lowe Sanders and Nancy Luella (Parton) Sanders. Virginia enjoyed attending the Millport Senior Activity Center where she visited with friends and played games including dominoes and bingo. She also enjoyed her what-nots or “doo-dads” as she called them, as well as painting suncatchers. She loved her family and friends very much. She will be dearly missed.
Virginia is survived by: her three sons, J.L. Broadbent (Montgomery, AL); Albert Leon Broadbent (and wife, Linda, Millport, AL); Rickey J. Broadbent (Huntsville, AL); her sister, Juanita Robison (Huntsville, AL); her three grandchildren, Jesse Broadbent (and fiancee, Angie, Millport, AL); Janet Estis (and husband, Lee, Ethelsville, AL); and Josh Broadbent (and wife, Amy, Huntsville, AL); her 5 great-grandchildren, Lillie Broadbent, Levi Estis, Luke Estis, Nick Broadbent, and Nate Broadbent.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, Jess Lewis Broadbent; her father, William Lowe Sanders; her mother, Nancy Luella (Parton) Sanders; her brother, S.B. Sanders; her sister, Pauline Limbaugh; her sister, Florence Carter; her brother, Leroy Sanders; and daughter-in-law, Pamela Broadbent.
The family will receive friends at Spry Funeral home of Huntsville on Monday February 2nd from 6pm until 8pm. Funeral services will be at the funeral home chapel on Tuesday February 3rd at 10 am with Mike Shaneyfelt officiating. Interment will be at Charity Cemetery in Hazel Green.
