John Carrol Steakley passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on Friday January 30, 2015, at the age of 84.
John was a resident of Sheffield Alabama. He graduated from Sheffield High School in 1949 and in 1954 received a BS degree in pharmacy from Howard College. He was a pharmacist and owned and operated Sheffield Pharmacy for 28 years. He enjoyed boating and had a passion for Tennessee Walking horses. He loved being with his family and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Visitation will be Monday, February 2, 2015, from 12-2pm and service at 2pm, at Morrison Funeral Home in Tuscumbia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ada Steakley and his sister Martha Word.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Gail Steakley; daughters, Carrol Steakley and Susan Scarborough; son in law, Todd Scarborough; grandson, Thomas Scarborough; Niece, Carol Word.
Pallbearers will be Kenny Farmer, Wesley Kiser, Ty McConnell, John NeSmith, Phillip Byars, Ken Boatwright, and honorary Joe Groom.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to First Baptist Church in Tuscumbia, or to the charity of your choice.
