Virginia “Gail” Patterson, 68, passed away Friday, May 22, 2026 at the Red Bay Hospital. She was born in Zion, IL to James “Bill” and Jeanette Wingo Gilliland. She married her soulmate, Donnie Patterson, on February 23, 1973 and together they had four children. She loved her family and cared for them along with all the other children on both sides of their families. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and every child at church was loved and cherished as her own. She will be deeply missed.
Funeral services will be Monday, May 25, 11 a.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, AL with Bro. Jerry George and Bro. Dale Henderson officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, May 24, 5-8 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home. Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL will be in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Donnie Patterson; three children, Jason Patterson of Red Bay, Angie Gann (Chad) of Golden and Ross Patterson (Melissa) of Tishomingo; thirteen grandchildren, Carley Scott, Nathan Boyd, Colton Patterson, Amy Patterson, Anna Patterson, Ava Patterson, Layla Patterson, Emmie Patterson, Aaron Gann, Shaun Gann, Madilynn Cole, Rhett Carter and James Patterson; four great-grandchildren and three sisters, Patricia Roberts, Teresa Bridges and Brenda Gann.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Derick Patterson and one sister, Leslie Davis.
Pallbearers will be Jake Hamm, Tristan Moomaw, Pete Wooten, Kirk Wooten, Coby Young and Austin Humphres. Honorary pallbearers will be Chad Gann, Shannon Young, Aaron Gann and Bill Bowling, Jr.
