Violet Davis Shockley of Hazel Green, Alabama, passed away on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at her home. She was 92.
Violet was born on September 17, 1930 in Madison County, Alabama and attended Hazel Green High School. She was a devoted wife and was an outgoing and friendly person with a great sense of humor and wit. She had a special love for babies and was dedicated to working in the nursery at her church. She was known for her kindness and love for others. She and her late husband, Louis, were both dedicated charter members of the First Baptist Church of Hazel Green. Violet also enjoyed working in her garden and flower beds.
Violet is survived by her brother, Bobby Davis; her sister, Mary Glidewell; her grandchildren, Jeremy (Kaylin) Jackson and Keyley Jackson; and several nieces and nephews. Violet was a beloved wife who was preceded in death by her husband of 74 years, Louis Shockley; three infant children; and her parents, Vernon and Artye Ross Davis.
A funeral service for Violet will be held on Friday, September 15, 2023 at 2pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home. Pastor Bobby Eads and Pastor Brad Williams will be officiating. Visitation will begin two hours prior to the service. Burial will be in Charity Cemetery.
