Vicky "Vick" Wray Compton Vicky “Vick” Wray Compton, age 74, of the Pine Ridge/Morgan City Community in Morgan County, Alabama, passed away unexpectedly on the evening of Sunday, June 22, 2025, at Decatur General Hospital. Born on July 12, 1950, to Victor Lesley Compton and Opal Nell Wray Compton, Vick was the only son among four children.
A proud 1968 graduate of Union Hill High School, Vick continued his education at the University of North Alabama, where he earned a bachelor’s degree. He shared a beautiful love story with his high school sweetheart, Teresia Parker, to whom he was married for over 51 years until her passing on August 18, 2024.
Vick served his country diligently as a member of the Alabama National Guard and built a successful career as an accountant with International Paper Company. He was of the Baptist faith and known for his generous spirit and commitment to service. Vick was a past member of the Brindlee Mountain Volunteer Fire Department and had served in several leadership roles. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially during deer and turkey hunting seasons. Until the last few years he and Teresia delighted in traveling to explore unfamiliar places. Vick’s life was a testament to hard work, love, and service to his community and family. His legacy will be cherished by all who knew him.
Family members Vick leaves behind to cherish memories include his three sisters and brothers-in-law; Elaine and Harrield Willingham, Pam and Eddie Mooneyham, Gina and Freddy Hembree; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Vick was preceded in death by his wife, Teresia Parker Compton and his parents, Victor and Opel Compton.
Services for Vick will be at Brindlee Mountain Chapel on Thursday, June 26, 2025. Family, friends and guests will gather to honor, acknowledge and recognize Vick’s life and legacy on Thursday, June 26, 2025 from 9:00am until funeral service at 11:00am. Officiating services will be Brother Eldridge Criscoe and Brother Freddy Hembree. Pallbearers honored to escort Vick to his final resting place in Pine Ridge Cemetery will be Josh Hembree, Jared Hembree, Jay Hembree, Joel Willingham, Mickey Slate, and Tim Parker. Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel entrusted with arrangements.
