Mr. Vester Townsend of Rogers Springs departed this life Monday, November 12, 2012 at the age of 85 at Bolivar General Hospital.
He was born in Fayette County on Christmas Day 1926 to the late Rufus and Myrtle Foster Townsend. On September 27, 1952, he was united in marriage to Mary Walls, who preceded him in death January 19, 2002. He worked in production at Harmon Automotive prior to becoming disabled. Having lived most all of his life in Rogers Springs, he was Church of Christ in belief.
Mr. Townsend is survived by two daughters, Helen Manley and Brenda Townsend, a son, Mark Townsend, a sister, Rosie Toms, and a brother, R. L. Townsend, all of Rogers Springs.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by two sons, Roy Ray Townsend and Johnny Boyd Townsend; a granddaughter, Kelly Townsend; two brothers, William Jason Townsend and Buford Townsend; and a sister, Christine Taylor
