Vernon E. Murphy, 98, of Rogersville, passed away, Sunday, January 11, 2026 at her residence. Before she was unable to do it, she enjoyed gardening, quilting and working in her flowers.
Visitation for Mrs. Murphy will be Thursday, January 15th at Rogersville Funeral Home from 12-2 with a graveside following in Belue Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Murphy, Jodie Howard, Jack Murphy, Justin Murphy, Twain Holden and Wayne Birdwell. Honorary pallbearers will be Colby Birdwell and Chris Peden.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam “Monk” Murphy; son, Neil Murphy; grandson, Timmy Murphy; 6 brothers; 2 sisters; parents, John & Dora Bates. She is survived by her daughter, Diane (Billy) Butler, Carolyn (Tommy) Howard; son, Willie (Joyce) Murphy; daughter-in-law, Carrie Murphy; 4 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-great- grandson.
