Joan Pittenger Swann, age 88, of Winchester, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2026, at Viva Senior Living.
She was born on March 14, 1937, in Winchester, Tennessee, to the late Frank and Aliene McWhirter Pittenger. Joan was a faithful member of Cowan Cumberland Presbyterian Church and lived her life grounded in love, service, and kindness.
Joan was formerly employed as the office manager for Dr. David Stockton, where she was known for her dedication and warm spirit. She carried a positive attitude throughout her life and was never selfish or self-serving. Joan had an unconditional love for those around her, and family meant everything to her. She made everyone feel welcomed, valued, and cared for. Her enduring spirit and the wisdom that she imparted are a testament to the legacy that she has left.
In her free time, Joan enjoyed playing various card games, especially Bridge. She loved traveling, cooking, sewing, watching UT sports, crafting, camping, and spending time doing the things that brought her joy, especially when shared with family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Billy Swann; siblings, Jack Rogers, Billy Rogers, Gerald Pittenger, Larry Pittenger, and Douglas Pittenger; and sisters-in-law, Anne Pittenger and Christi Pittenger.
She is survived by her daughter, Joanna Miller and husband, Clifton N. Miller, J.D.; brother, Ronnie (Rena) Pittenger; sister, Debbie (Bob) Zimmerman; grandchildren, Justin Miller, M.D., and wife, Angela Miller, Brandon Miller, M.D., and wife Margaret Miller, M.D., and Jillian Purdue, J.D., and husband Lewis Purdue; great-grandchildren, Judah Miller, Ada Joan Miller, Henry Miller, and Eli Miller; sisters-in-law, Alline Rogers, Norma Pittenger, and Stephenie Swann ; along with several special nieces, nephews, extended family, and special bridge friends.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Watson Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the Roy B. Watson Chapel of Watson Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie Pittenger officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Watson Memorial Park.
