Verba Lucille Lann, 88, died Wednesday, October 5, 2016, at the Graceland Nursing Home in Memphis, TN. She was born May 19, 1928, to Marvin Eckford and Ruby Jewel Plunkett Sallis. She was a teacher at Turon Community School and a homemaker. She was a life-long member of Hopewell United Methodist Church near Tremont. She loved playing the piano, watching television, reading, talking to her friends and family, and all-day singings and dinners on the ground.
Services will be at 1 p. m. Saturday, October 8, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Bro. Eddie McMillen officiating. Burial will be in the Itawamba Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include one son, Jeffery Lee Lann (fiancée Tara Renee) of Tremont; two grandchildren, Jacqueline Louise Hood (Thomas) of Southaven, and Lee Wayne Lann; one great-grandchild, William Thomas Hood.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Kermit Lann; one granddaughter, Jessica Lynn Lann; and her parents.
Pallbearers will be Shawn Evans, Shane Evans, Shannon Evans, Eric Tighe, Tony Falls, and Matthew Lann.
Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Cody, Jim Cody, Wade Falls, Danny Lann, Basil Kennedy, Jeff Phelps, Greg Thomas, Mike Bennett, Henry Williams, Perry Smith, Donald Scott, Thomas Hood, and William Hood.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 11 a. m. until service time Saturday at McNeece-Morris Funeral Home in Fulton.
