Vera Joan Earley Knight, 90, of Huntsville, AL, peacefully departed this earth into the arms of Jesus on January 5, 2025, after a brief illness. Vera was born in Norwich, England to William and Mary Ann Earley on May 19, 1934. She was the 9th of 11 children. She grew up in the middle of WW2. In her teenage years she attended Catholic School. In her 20’s she met her husband, John, while he was an American serviceman located at a nearby Air Force base. After they married, they returned to the US and ended up in Huntsville, AL.

She was a devoted wife and stay-at-home mom and raised three kids who helped her hone her mom skills. She loved her children with all her heart and it was never doubted. If you had ever met Vera you would have quickly learned of her love for Jesus. Vera was deeply devoted to her family and her dog, Grace! She found enjoyment in tending to her flowers, cooking, all while whispering constant prayers. She will be remembered as the reason so many were brought to Christ. She was a faithful member of Valley Fellowship Church where she would worship and share her love for while always learning more about her Savior, Jesus Christ.

Vera is survived by her children, Dean Knight (Lori), Glen Knight (Susan), and Renee Knight Wells; her sister, Norma Green of California; and brother, Billy Earley of England; brother-in-law, Patrick O’shea of South Carolina; nephew, Jonathan Wolf (Lisa); niece, Jennifer Daniel of Florida; grandchildren, Nicholas Knight (Jeanne), Joshua Knight (Amy), Morgan Hughes (Lee), Jessica Knight, Sean Knight, Samuel Wells, Heather Smith (David), and Sarah Wells; and great-grandchildren, Piper, Eva, Hazel, Milo, Ethan, Jenna, Nicole, Erin, and Alexa.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Knight and siblings Burt, Beatrice, Ken, Marion, Margaret, Peggy, Billy and her beloved sister Betty.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Greg Simon and Pastor Carol Simon officiating. Following the conclusion of the service a reception will be held at her home.

Memorials may be made to Valley Fellowship Church or School in Huntsville.
