Funeral services for Mrs. Velvet Jo Mitchell Stanford, age 56 of Ashland, will be held on Friday, May 28, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland with Rev. David Holcombe officiating. Burial will follow in the Clay County Memory Gardens.
Mrs. Stanford passed away on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at Clay County Nursing Home. Born in Clay County, she was a former resident of Hamilton but spent the majority of her life in Clay County. Mrs. Stanford was a kind and sweet woman that was a big Alabama Fan, loved to read and watch TV.
She is survived by her husband, Lester Stanford, her sister, Tammy Suggs (James) and her father, Bruner J. Mitchell, all of Ashland, one niece and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruby Lee Browning Mitchell.
Active pallbearers will be: Colt Suggs, Cody Suggs, Randall Browning, Ronald Whited, Harvey Browning and Terry Baird.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland from 5:30 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and until service time on Friday.
Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland will be in charge of the arrangements.
