Velvet “Jessie” Callahan – Obituary

VelvetVelvet “Jessie” Callahan, 98, died Saturday, August 10, 2013. Her visitation will be Monday, August 12th, from 6 pm until 8 pm at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. Her funeral service will be Tuesday, August 13th, at 10 am in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Donald Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Guy Cemetery.

Mrs. Callahan was preceded in death by her husband, Ruben T. Callahan; brothers, Linis Howard, Eddie Howard, and Raymond Howard; sister, Leonia Russell; grandchildren, Michael King and Veverly Poore.

She is survived by her sons, Rayford Callahan, Jesse Callahan, Dallas Callahan, Thomas Callahan; daughters, Martha King and Patsy Whitehouse; sister, Enda Smallwood; 27 grandchildren; 52 great grandchildren; and several great great grandchildren.

Mrs. Callahan’s favorite hobby was quilting.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.

Blessing on your family as they try to find a way to carry your name. You were always so kind to me. My late husband, Jerry Russell, loved you so much that we named our first born daughter after you… Many times you spoke words of wisdom and kindness to us all. You will be missed but never forgotten..
