Velma England – Obituary

Velma England, 91, of Florence passed away on Monday, March 28, 2016 at the Florence Nursing Home. Visitation will be from 12-2 p.m. on Friday at New Hope Church of Christ in Central. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with Carl Siegenthaler officiating. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery.

A native of Lauderdale County, Velma was proud earning her degree in nursing. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rayburn England.

Survivors include her daughter, Martha England Handley; four grandchildren, Cindy (Paul) Black, Dawn (Richard) Thrasher, Jamie (Kristin) Handley, Marsha (Jamie) Perry; 12 great-grandchildren, Cydawn (David) Brown, Halisha Black, Stephanie (Caleb) Thomas, Ryan (Savannah) Siniard, Colby Handley, Taylor Handley, Jesse Perry, Macoy Perry, Tyson, Trent, Tanner, and Truitt; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Ryan Siniard, Colby Handley, David Brown, Paul Black, and Edward McDonald. Honorary pallbearers will be Jamie Handley and Sammy Fritts.

Special thanks are given to the staff at Florence Rehabilitation and Nursing Home and to Gentiva Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gentiva Hospice.
