Vaudelle Smith Burns, age 86, of Lawrenceburg, TN passed away Sunday, June 08, 2025, at Adamsville Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Adamsville, TN. She was a native of Lawrence County, TN, retired educator with the Lawrence County School System, and a member of Deerfield Baptist Church. She enjoyed singing, sewing, reading, and loved to travel. Her passion was teaching, she loved to teach.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William “John” Aster Smith and Lula Belle Lumpkins Smith.
She is survived by her husband of sixty- five years, William Thomas Burns of Lawrenceburg, TN; two daughters, Gena Smith (James) of Quincy, FL and Rita Barber (Richie) of Adamsville, TN; one son, Lenny Burns of LaVergne, TN; one sister, Betty Jane Harlan (Roy) of Leoma, TN; nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; several nieces; and nephews. Those serving as pallbearers are Clay Brantley, Julie Brantley, Matthew Herring, Lauren Barber Graves, Lane Waddell, Logan Barber, Jordan Brantley, Hunter Brantley. Also, serving as honorary pallbearers are her great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM Friday, June 13, 2025, at Neal Funeral Home. The body will lie in state from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Deerfield Baptist Church on Saturday, June 14, 2025. Funeral services will be conducted at Deerfield Baptist Church at 11:00 AM Saturday, June 14, 2025, with Ben Emerson and Tony Gordy officiating. Interment will follow at Deerfield Cemetery in Lawrenceburg, TN.
