October 7th & 8th Lake City Fall Fest!
Come visit the State Park booth that will be set up at Lake City Fest in Downtown Guntersville. We will be there from 10 AM – 6 PM and will have a raffle for accommodations at the park! |
October 15th – Birding Basics
Birding is a huge part of Lake Guntersville in the Fall, with so many migrating species, you never know what you are going to see! Join the Park Naturalist, Indya Guthrie, at the Short Creek boat dock to view at one of the most active birding areas in the park. Make sure to bring your lawn chair and binoculars! |
October 15th – Wings Over Lake Guntersville
Birds are one of the most intriguing creatures on planet Earth – one big reason being that they can FLY! Come learn about the anatomy of these interesting animals and view their unique skulls and wing bones up close. You will discover how birds fly, how they have evolved to catch prey, and even get to see some of their eggs! |
October 15th – Guided Paddle @ Town Creek
Experiencing Lake Guntersville State Park by water is one of the most fascinating things to at the park. Join us for a guided paddle with the Park Naturalist and experience the joys of the park from a different perspective. You will get beautiful views of the Fall foliage, have the opportunity to bird watch, and enjoy a casual paddle! |
October 21st – Cutchemine Trail Hike
Come on a guided hike along our newly reopened Cutchemine Trail. Over the years, this has been one of our most cherished and popular trails in the park. This 5-mile out and back hike follows an old coal mine road along the shoreline, past many limestone rock formations, before ending at Dry Creek. |
October 22nd – Archery in the Park!
At this program you will learn the basic techniques and skills needed to shoot a bow. This is only for those that have never used a bow or have only had some practice. Ages 8 & up are welcome to join the Park Staff for this program! |
October 22nd – Campfire Talk: Bald Eagles
Birds of Prey are some of the most majestic species on planet Earth and we are lucky enough for them to call our park home. As we near the nesting of our Bald Eagles at Lake Guntersville, join our former Park Naturalist, Mike Ezell, at the Outdoor Classroom to learn all about them and their lives here at the park! |
October 28th – Seales Trail Hike!
Join the Park Naturalist for a guided hike on one of the parks most popular trails. As we weave through the hardwood forest, you will be surrounded by large limestone rocks and many animal species. This trail leads you along the edge of Town Creek giving you wonderful views of the lake! This is a 5 mile out and back trail, with little elevation gain – considered easy. |
