Florence Police Arrest Two Suspects On Multi-State Retail Theft Charges

FLORENCE-On December 1, 2025, Florence Police Department officers responded to 3100 Hough Road; Walmart regarding a retail theft call for service.

Officers came in contact with Michael Dyson and Dakota Lovelace inside Walmart. Dyson and Lovelace were using a fake tag

to scan items in lieu of the real tags on several items. While on scene, officers learned that Lovelace had active warrants for a previous theft. They also located a baggie containing methamphetamine on Dyson’s person. Initially, Dyson was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance-Methamphetamine and Lovelace was charged with her active warrants.

 

After further investigation by the Florence Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division, Detectives found that this was the ninth time in three different states that Dyson and Lovelace have stolen from retailers. FPD Detectives swore out warrants for Organized Retail Theft (13A-8-226) to charge

both Michael Dyson and Dakota Lovelace.

 

Dyson is currently confined at the Lauderdale County Detention Center. He has a bond set at $30,000 for the Organized Retail Theft charge and unrelated drug charge.
