FLORENCE – The University of North Alabama’s third annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Service Day will take place Monday, Jan. 16, in the Guillot University Center on UNA’s campus.

UNA’s event is being planned in conjunction with the national MLK Service Day and is an opportunity for students, faculty, staff and the Shoals community to come together and honor Dr. King while serving those in need at the same time.

Bethany Green, assistant director for Student Engagement, said for the second year in a row, UNA will partner with Numana, Inc., to package food.

The food will be distributed to local food pantries in the Shoals community,” said Green.  “Our goal is to package over 30,000 meals.”

Check-in at the GUC Performance Center will take place between 10 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.; the welcome will take place from 10:30 a.m.-11 a.m., followed by the packaging project from 11 a.m.- Noon.  All volunteers will receive a free MLK Service Day t-shirt for participating.
