Catholic School, were recently recognized by Duke University for their top academic
achievement. The ceremony, held at the University of Alabama on May 9, 2015,
recognized Thompson and VanVeckhoven for their ACT test scores and achievement
in the national college entrance exam.
Thompson was also recognized as a National Grand Award winner, placing him in
the top tier of more than 64,000 TIP participants nationwide.
Both won their honors through their participation in the Duke University Talent
Identification Program (TIP), which places top 7th graders across the country in the
national ACT College Entrance Exam with high school juniors and seniors.
The national Duke University TIP program, begun in 1981, works to identify and
serve academically talented youth through elementary school and high school. In
addition to the testing opportunities, Thompson and VanVeckhoven plan to take
part in the program’s independent learning and language programs.
