TUSCUMBIA – “Come to Tuscumbia, the climate’s warm!” was the message, in so-many-words, to Northern firearms manufacturers. The message originated at last Monday’s Tuscumbia, Alabama City Council meeting, when Mayor Bill Shoemaker and the Council members approved a resolution that supports both our Second Amendment rights and the manufacturers of legal firearms in America.
Shoemaker told The Quad-Cities Daily that owning firearms is a proud Southern tradition that will never go away. “There are some places where the firearms industry is no longer wanted. They have been made scapegoats for the recent crimes that have been in the news. It’s not fair,” he continued, “We support the Constitutional Right to bear arms. And if these companies don’t feel welcome where they are now, they should come and take a look at The Shoals.” Shoemaker made his comments after his regular meeting of the Shoals Industrial Development Committee.
