Surrounded by her family at home, Trudy Lynnette (Cooper) Lincoln’s gentle spirt left her body on June 30, 2017, after a courageous two year battle with cancer. She never once complained about the countless treatments, doctor appointments or hospital stays, but rather enjoyed life and time with family and friends.
Trudy was born in Cape Girardeau, Mo. on March 20th, 1957 to Tom Crawford Cooper and Clyda Faye (Welch) Cooper.
Trudy married David Lincoln on July 2nd, 1976 in Cape Girardeau. Starting part time in high school, Trudy worked at Associated Building Centers, then full time after finishing school. When she left ABC in 1981, she was masterfully managing inventory control, purchasing and customer service for the Andersen window and door product line. In 1981, she moved with her husband and young daughter to Jackson, Tn, then moving later the same year to Tupelo, MS.
From 1980 until 1994, Trudy dedicated herself to being a wonderful mother of her two daughters as a stay at home mom. She was very patient and dedicated, spending many enjoyable days with her girls, reading books, playing games, swimming, taking them to activities such as sports practice and watching them play softball and soccer. Her success as a mother is evidenced by the outstanding accomplishments of her daughters.
In 1994, Trudy returned to work, first as Bakery and Deli Manager at Food World in Tupelo. In 1996, she began working for MW Windows in customer service and purchasing, retiring in 2008.
Trudy had many hobbies. She completed some amazing cross stitch pictures and sewed very creative Halloween costumes for her daughters. She loved feeding and watching birds. Trudy cultivated beautiful flowers and plants in her gardens. She loved pets, especially her most recent companion Magenta, a Welsh Terrier.
Trudy loved music of all kinds, but especially any music from Jerry Garcia, including the Grateful Dead, Jerry Garcia Band and his bluegrass collaborations with David Grisman. She passed this love of music on to her daughters and was proud that she was able to take them to a Grateful Dead concert in 1995 and several Further Festival concerts. Trudy will be remembered for her kind and gentle spirit, as well as her playful smile, cute dimples and pretty green eyes.
Trudy is now pain free, soaring with the angels, no doubt dancing and twirling her dress to some excellent Jerry Garcia music.
Trudy was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband David and daughters, Kara Lynne (Mike Baker) Lincoln of Raleigh, NC, Molly Jean Lincoln of Tupelo. Sisters Pam (Ken) White of Heath, Tx, Debbie (John) Patterson of Rowlett, Tx. Niece Sophia Patterson and nephew Cole (Danielle) Patterson of Rowlett, Tx.
Visitation with a celebration of life will be Wednesday July 5th from 5:00 to 8pm at Holland Funeral Home in Tupelo. A second visitation with celebration of life will be held Saturday July 8th from 10am to noon at Ford and Sons Funeral Home on Mount Auburn in Cape Girardeau, Mo. Fare you well, fare you well
I love you more than words can tell
Listen to the river sing sweet songs
To rock my soul
Going home, going home
By the waterside I will rest my bones
Listen to the river sing sweet songs
To rock my soul
