 Dr. Troy Butler BohannonTroy Butler Bohannon went to be with the Lord on December 11, 2018. He was born October 18, 1934 in Cookeville, Tennessee. He practiced obstetrics and gynecology in the Shoals for 37 years after receiving his Doctorate of Medicine from The University of Tennessee in 1958. He completed his residency at Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa, OK, and his specialty training at General Hospital teaching hospital of Vanderbilt University in Nashville. Many knew Troy for the excellent and kind care he gave his patients. He was a dedicated professional who loved what he did. Most remember him as a doctor that never spoke a harsh word and always treated others with respect and dignity. He was a member of the Colbert County Medical Society, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and the American Fertility Society.
He was honored to be a Deacon at First Baptist Church of Sheffield for many years. He gave his life to the Lord at the age of 12. He married the love of his life, Mary Evelyn Weatherly, and they enjoyed life together for over 61 years. The joy of his life was his two sons, Richard and Michael. He was then blessed with four beautiful granddaughters that he adored.
Troy joins his father, Oliver Bohannon, mother, Fern Butler Bohannon, and in-laws, Aubrey and Mittie Weatherly, in heaven.
Survivors include his loving wife, Mary Evelyn Weatherly Bohannon, sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Karen Bohannon and Michael and Sally Bohannon. Granddaughters, Kara Bohannon Gazaway (Richard), Nicole Bohannon Hampton (Josh), Kaitlin Bohannon, and Kristin Bohannon.
The family will receive friends, Saturday, December 15th, from 12-2 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home in Tuscumbia. Service to follow with Reverend Chad Holder officiating. Burial will be at Colbert Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be John Adams, Kevin Borden, Gary Enzfelder, Richard Gazaway, Josh Hampton, Amos Harrison, Lewis Patterson, and Adam Rue.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Sheffield or the charity of your choice. Troy chose to live a life that mattered and make a difference in the lives of others.
