drug bust 2MORGAN COUNTY-Deputies from the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office made  a traffic stop that resulted in a drug arrest. Here is how Sheriff Ana Franklin describe the events leading up to the arrest:

“Thursday, August 14th, 2014, Morgan County Deputies stopped a vehicle for Improper Lights on Hwy 67 in Florette. Deputies discovered multiple subjects in the vehicle. One of the subjects had felony warrants in Madison County and one of them had misdemeanor warrants in Arab. Deputies detained those subjects and obtained consent to search the vehicle. Deputies searched the vehicle and discovered a bag of “Spice”. One of the subjects, Christopher Aaron Raines, 27, of Guntersville, claimed the spice. Deputies continued the search and discovered several more bags of spice hidden behind the carpet in the trunk of the vehicle. Deputies also discovered a plastic baggie in Raines wallet that contained a small amount of methamphetamine.

Morgan County Drug Task Force Agents were called and arrived on scene. Agents determined that the spice and meth belonged to Raines. Agents weighed the spice and discovered it weighed approximately 92.1 grams. Agents arrested Raines and charged him with Trafficking in a Controlled Substance Analog and Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine). Mr. Raines was currently out on bond from a previous drug arrest.

Judge Howell set his bonds at $202,500.00. Raines was taken to the Morgan County Jail.”
