Tommie Lou Burgett, age 74, of Tuscumbia, Alabama went to be with the Lord, June 21, 2016. Visitation will be Thursday, June 23, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home in Tuscumbia. Her funeral service will be Friday, June 24, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Tuscumbia with Rudy Guess officiating. Her remains will lie in state at the church from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Colbert Memorial Gardens.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Johnny Wayne Burgett; her son, Stephen Burgett (Dalila) and grandchildren Lauren and Christen of Pompano Beach, Florida and Matthew Burgett of Tuscaloosa, AL, and her son Jon Burgett of Muscle Shoals as well as a large extended family.
Tommie retired from banking and enjoyed being a homemaker and volunteering with her church, First United Methodist, Tuscumbia and at the Caring Center.
She was a strong, vibrant, loving and caring member of the community. Her touch was felt within her family and community and her presence will be missed.
She was a light in the stormy sea of life and a safe harbor for anyone who needed help.
She used her faith in Christ to spread his good news to all she touched and met.
