Timmy "Tim" Clyde SmithTimmy “Tim” Clyde Smith, age 56, of Odenville, AL (formerly of Russellville) passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at UAB Hospital.

Tim had graduated from Belgreen High School and attended Northwest.  He  was a diehard Alabama fan.  He loved his family, his cats, Salem, Zoe, and Gracie, but most of all he loved being “Poppa” to his grandchildren.  He and his spouse, Tim, had been together for 25 years enjoying their life together and chasing their dreams.  He loved going on trips in his BMW and going on family vacations.  He was very talented at decorating for Christmas and had even been recognized with the best of the neighborhood awards for Christmas.  He never lost his sense of adventure and his love and the thrill of riding roller coasters.

He was preceded in death by his spouse, Timothy “Tim” Young; parents, Ernest & Ludie (Black) Smith; brother, Byron Dwight Smith; sister-in-law, Dinah Greene; and father-in-law, Silas Young.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter, Kimberly Young; son, Eric Young (Jess); grandchildren, Elizabeth Young, Elliot Young; brother, Jerry Wayne Smith (Melanie); sisters, Shelia James (Daniel), Patty Dye (Tim), Judy Medina (Joseph); mother-in-law, Thelma Young; sister-in-law, Kristy Davis (Shawn); step-mother, Opal Baker; special family friend, Mrs. Brewster; a host of nieces & nephews; and his beloved cats, Salem, Zoe, and Gracie.

The visitation will 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 29, 2024, at Spry Memorial Chapel.  The funeral will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel with Rev. J.R. Finny officiating the service.  Burial will be at Crooked Oak Baptist Church.

The family would like to express a sincere heartfelt thanks to the nurses and staff of UAB Trauma Center and the Palliative Care Unit for your love and care of our family.
