Three Limestone County Women Charged With Sodomy 1st And Sexual Abuse Of A Child

LIMESTONE COUNTY-On Saturday, July 12, 2025, Sergeant Cary Moore completed an initial report detailing allegations of sexual abuse and sodomy involving a child under 12 years old. The case was promptly assigned to Investigator Kandace Wilson, who began a thorough investigation in coordination with the Limestone Child Advocacy Center
.
Through the course of the investigation, probable cause was established to arrest the following individuals:
* Crystal Lee McCart, 38, of Athens, AL – Charged with Sexual Abuse of a Child Less Than 12. McCart is currently being held on a $250,000 bond.
* Gayla Michelle Kyle, 50, of Athens, AL – Charged with Sodomy 1st Degree. Kyle appeared before a judge for an Aniah’s Law hearing on Monday and was denied bond.
* Monica Anne Campbell, 40, of Elkmont, AL – Also charged with Sodomy 1st Degree. Campbell is awaiting an Aniah’s Law hearing to determine if she will be held without bond.
“This case is deeply disturbing, and we are committed to ensuring justice is served for the victim involved,” said Sheriff Joshua McLaughlin. “I commend the diligent work of our investigators and the support of the Limestone Child Advocacy Center for their role in this ongoing investigation.”
