Thomas Guin McMurtrey, 76 of Florence, passed away Sunday April 7, 2024.
Visitation will be Wednesday April 10 from 12:30 pm-2 pm at Greenview Funeral Home, Florence, AL. The mausoleum service will be Wednesday April 10 at 2:30 pm at the outdoor Tri- Cities Memorial chapel with Justin Pannell officiating. Interment will be at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.
He was a member of Sherrod Avenue Church of Christ. He was a loving husband, father, papa, and jack of all trades. His passion was ham radio, computers, flying and sailing. Preceding him in death were his parents: Edward and “Polly” McMurtrey and his wife of 57 years Nina McMurtrey.
He is survived by his son: Shannon McMurtrey (Wendy) of Tuscaloosa, AL, daughter: Becky Phillips (Jamey) of Rogersville AL.
Brother: Steve (Debra) McMurtrey of Florence.
Sisters: Jeanette (Larry) Harper of Florence and Susan (Reggie) Shook of Hatton, AL.
Two grandchildren Chase Azbell (Hannah Cummings) and Carter Azbell.
Pallbearers will be Chase Azbell, Carter Azbell, Greg Bevis, Brent Olive, Landon Olive, and Robbie Willingham.
Memorials may be made to Sherrod Avenue Church of Christ.
