  Thomas Gerald Coleman Jr.Thomas Gerald Coleman Jr., (63), of Decatur, AL, passed away at his home surrounded by his family.

Thomas, known to many as Tom, was born to Thomas and Carol (Garrett) Coleman on May 15, 1959, in Jackson, Alabama. Tom was a precocious child and loved a good adventure, hunting and sports. He played football at Jackson High School where he graduated in 1977. He attended the University of Alabama pursuing Chemistry at which time he became a lifelong Alabama Football fan.

Mr. Coleman attended and graduated in 1994 from the University of South Alabama where he achieved his Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy with focus in Sports Medicine. He was employed by Encore Rehabilitation where he was dedicated to his patients and saw their success as his own.

He is survived by his loving wife, Rae Lynne; children, Rachel (Thomas) Recore of Jackson, MS, and Jonathan Ladner of Mobile, AL; grandchildren: Charlotte and Coleman Recore; Summer Ladner; Mother: Carole (Garrett) Coleman; sister: Amy Coleman; Mother-in-law, Tecia T. Ladner as well as beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his father Thomas Gerald Coleman Sr. and father-in-law, Azria Ladner, Jr.

Tom’s family will host a Celebration of Life service at Shelton Funeral Home in Decatur, Monday March 13, 2023 from 6-8pm. Final service and burial will be held at Serenity Funeral Home in Theodore, AL.
