Billy Russell Melson, age 83 passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, March 8, 2023.
He was born May 7, 1939 in Lawrence County to William R. and Mary Ivah Reid Melson, He was a 1957 graduate of Speake High School. He was married to Martha Ann Smith Melson for 65 years. He sold industrial x-ray equipment and built the containment rooms that housed them, he was a jack of all trades and could build and fix almost anything.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Ann Smith Melson, a daughter, Phyllis Melson Bradford (Brad), grandchildren: Caleb Bradford (Christina), Jessica Wood (Tyler), William Melson, great grandchildren, Ivey Anne Bradford, Foster Bradford, Jackson Wood, and John Micah Wood.
He is preceded in death by a son, Phillip Melson, his parents, siblings, Calvin Melson, Gilbert Melson, Nadine Yeager, Olene Owens, Dee Melson, R.V. Melson, and Betty Nance.
Visitation for Mr. Melson will be from 6:00PM-8:00PM, Saturday March 11 at Shelton Funeral Home. The funeral will be at 2:00PM on Sunday, March 12, 2023 at Beltline Church of Christ. The body will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral. Burial will be following at Aldridge Grove Church of Christ Cemetery.
