Funeral service for Thomas Eugene Wiley, age 80, of Danville will be 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at Parkway Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Neil Carter officiating. The family will receive friends for two hours prior to service. Interment will be in Moulton Memory Gardens.
Mr. Wiley, who died Friday, January 3, 2025, at Lawrence Medical Center, was born April 13, 1944, in Alabama to William Otis Wiley and Vera Gertrude Jacobs Wiley. He was preceded in death by his son, Tom Ethan Wiley; parents; four brothers, John Kenneth Wiley (Mary Ann), William Bennett Wiley (Mary Dean); Rayburn Jackson Wiley, and Richard Weldon Wiley (Carol). Tom was a 1962 graduate of Speake High School. Following graduation he served in the U. S. Army Reserve. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school for 30+ years. He served his community in a variety of positions including the Alfa Board of Directors and the Lawrence County Medical Center Board. He was a member and chairman of the ASCS Board and a charter member of the Speake Volunteer Fire Department where he served as chief for 31 years. He retired from General Motors and started Wiley Farms. He enjoyed growing muscadines, traveling, and gardening. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Tom truly loved his family and community.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years. Sue Aldridge Wiley; and two grandchildren, Alicia Shaw Wiley and Miller Shane Wiley.
Pallbearers will be Mark Hodges, Darrell Black, Steve Wiley, Don Smith, Jon Wiley, Rich Wiley, Wyatt Hill, and Drew Adams. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Speake Volunteer Fire Department.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Samaritan’s Purse.
