Thomas Eldridge “Tommy” Bass, age 79, of Murfreesboro, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, April 3, 2022. Tommy was born on April 23, 1942, in Monticello, Mississippi, to the late Elsie “Toosie” and Eldridge “A” Bass. He was a veteran of the United States Army, where he received the Expert Rifle Badge, Sharpshooter Badge and the National Defense Service Medal. Tommy retired after thirty years of service at various TVA locations, he then went to Shaw Industries where he worked for nine years where he was a creeler operator. Tommy quickly realized retirement was not for him and went to work for Kroger’s in Murfreesboro where he was currently employed. In his spare time, you could find him fishing, hunting, watching Alabama and Mississippi State play games. His favorite past time was spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Timothy “Tim” Wiser; brother, Henry “Bubba” Bass; grandparents, Edward and Myrtis Butler and Henry and Annie Bass. He is survived by his children, Traci (Phil) Henderson, Kim (Kevin) Slayton; grandchildren, Kyle Commons, Kandace (Miller) Scoggins, Michael Henderson, Kurt Jackson and Kelsea (Josh) Stewart; great-grandchildren, Alivia June Scoggins, Klaudia Jackson, Sadie Jo, Kora and Slayton Stewart; sister, Barbara Rose; sister-in-law, Hortense Bass; host of nieces and nephews; two special friends, David Laws and Terry Cleek. A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2022, from 4:00pm-6:00pm in the Life Celebration Center of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home.
